INTERVIEW: STEFANIE SALGUERO – FROM MADRID TO WYNWOOD

Siglo Events: So Stefanie we are exited that you are participating in Siglo event, instead of talking about the artwork tell us a little bit about yourself, where were you born? Where have you been?

Stefanie: I was born in Madrid, Spain and moved out to Miami about two years a go. My father is American and my mother is English so since I was a little girl I have always been bilingual. I have been almost everywhere; I have been very fortunate with my travels, which is one of my passions. My best adventures were in the Galapagos Island and Antarctica where we had to take an icebreaker to get there!

SE: So lets talk about the process. What is your creative process when it comes to creating your artwork?

Stefanie: My creative process is simple. Whenever I have my camera in my hand and I feel in one with nature and my surroundings I capture what I feel is most beautiful. It could be anything really, it just has to make me feel something.

SE: What artist do you feel have influenced your work?

Stefanie: An artist that has a huge influence on me is Ansel Adams, he is for me the best Black and White photographer that has ever existed. He captures the essence of nature very gracefully and almost poetic.

SE: Shows that you have participated this year?

I do not really show my work, I have them published on different social media platforms and participated in little showcase galleries in Madrid. So I am very excited for this event, it can be said that it is my first!

SE: when it comes to the art scene Miami is relatively young but as an artist living in Miami what’s your take in the recent Art Movement in Miami?

Stefanie: Miami is amazing, the art scene here surrounds you. I have met so many truly great artists that I feel priviledged just to be around them and incorporate myself to their ‘scene’. Miami has grown and will continue to grow exponentially in the arts and I cannot wait to be here front row seeing all of it.
